Embroidery Art

The textile arts, using needle and thread in Medieval times became part of Celtic life with the spread of Christianity throughout Europe. The three countries working closest to nature and with a love of plants and gardens for floral and foliage design were England, Persia and China. Church vestments and linen with embroidery were an influence because they were on display.  Artisans developed local materials and adapted designs to suit their own needs and likes.  Exquisite stitchery and embroidery developed as new influences infilitrated and spread.  The Renaissance era embraced styles inspired by Crewel embroidery patterns that included the Jacobean style. I have adapted the designs to painting and drawing.
